AUCKLAND FAMILY HISTORY EXPO WEEKEND 9th – 11th Aug 2024

Auckland Family History Expo 2024 | Tāmaki Huinga Tātai Kōrero
Auckland Libraries and the Genealogical Computing Group (an interest group of the NZ Society of Genealogists) proudly present a weekend-long event covering a wide range of topics on researching genealogy and family history.
2024 is the tenth anniversary of our first Expo and we plan to make it an extra special one in celebration.
Join us on Friday 9 August to Sunday 11 August 2024 at the Fickling Convention Centre , 546 Mt Albert Rd, Three Kings.
- Friday 9 August 2024: Opening event $34.05 per person to cover catering expenses.
- Saturday 10 August 2024: Free entrance for all.
- Sunday 11 August 2024: Free entrance for all.
Take advantage of our free seminars, from beginner to advanced, computer-based tutorials, ask-an-expert sessions and research assistance on Saturday 10 August and Sunday 11 August. No booking required. Bring your laptops to take full advantage of the workshops and tutorials.

We are delighted to announce that we have confirmed one of our main keynote speakers:
Dr Sophie Kay
Kronicle (UK)
From DNA to historical maps, from research methods to historical occupations, Dr. Sophie Kay is a UK-based professional genealogist and geneticist at Khronicle® (www.khronicle.co.uk) who loves all manner of family history research challenges. She’s the Ancestry and Genealogy Expert for popular archaeology show, Time Team; the specialist DNA Tutor for the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies; and teaches courses in historical mapping techniques and research methodology at Pharos Tutors. She’s also a Member of AGRA, a UK organisation of professional family historians. When she’s not delving into clients’ DNA results, poring over archival documents or teaching genealogy, Sophie writes articles for her family history blog, The Parchment Rustler (www.parchmentrustler.com), where she shares tips, tricks and strategies for making the most of your ancestral research journey.
